The rather odd-looking Wellesley two-seater had an extremely
long wingspan which gave excellent range - even if its engines did
look as though it had been stuck on as an afterthought. The 900kg
bomb load was carried in removable underwing containers.
They entered service in 1937, but Bomber Command had only two
still in service by the outbreak of the Second World War.
