Life for Henry Chance was one big game. Even when war broke out in 1939, Henry signed up to become a fighter pilot thinking it would be a lark. Soon his daring deeds in a Hurricane earned him a reputation —but he was abruptly brought back to earth when he was shot down and rescued by a widowed farmer and her children. Stranded in France and with the Germans closing in, Henry soon realised that war may not be the game he thought it was.
