It was an ordinary, standard issue British Lee Enfield rifle. But after being dropped muzzle-down into soft mud, it picked up a hidden extra: a plug of clag that hardened deep in the barrel.

That rifle was now a deadly trap. It would kill the first person who pulled the trigger…
