The island of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea has its fair share of ancient legends. The most famous and terrifying of these is about the Minotaur, a creature with the body of a man and the head of a bull.
By the time of the Second World War such a story was laughed at — but two Englishmen on the run from German paratroopers were not at all sure there wasn’t a lot of truth in it!
