They tried to bomb it with P-47 Thunderbolts — twice! But still the vital supply tunnel in mountainous Northern Italy remained standing. Surrounded by deadly accurate German anti-aircraft guns, the tunnel was almost untouchable.
That was until downed Thunderbolt pilot Captain Jack Harks, along with an SOE agent and the local Italian Resistance, turned their sights on it. Well, third time lucky as they say!
